Sofia's Wonder

There is nothing like Sofia city . We enjoyed that city so much , full of monasteries and churches.

Here is the Nevsky Church in sofia It is the biggest cathedral located on the Balkan Peninsula

The inside of Rila Monastery church is richly decorated in frescoes and icons. The church contains three special items: a 12th century icon of the Virgin, the hand of John of Rila, and Tsar Boris III's heart, buried in the chapel.

Here is the St gorge Rotunda Church ,
it is the oldest building in sofia. This church had changed many times since the Roman era then the Ottoman used it as a mosque and then changed again and converted to a Christian  church.

Plovidv discovery

Plovdiv’s most iconic symbol is the Roman Amphitheater found in the heart of old town. Built in the 2nd century AD under the orders of Trajan and rediscovered in 1972 following a landslide, the amphitheater now hosts concerts and plays during the warmer months of the year.
Like Veliko Turnovo, Plovdiv has a rich collection of homes built during the Bulgarian National Revival, a period renowned for its characteristic architecture. Plovdiv’s old town is popular for this homes.
Built in 1848, the house is now home to a historical museum.
St Constantine and Helena Church
is Plovdiv's oldest. Originally built over a Roman church, the current structure dates mostly to 1832. The church is known for its religious art, especially the richly colored images icon that decorate both the entrance to the church and its interior.
The Dzhumaya Mosque built in 1364 in front of the left roman stadium parts.

BUlgarian Dishes!!!

The food, what can I say, totally delicious and tasty. It’s hard to pick up one that is the best. One that I enjoyed the most was the Shopska Salata in sofia, with tomatoes, cucumber , roasted pepers , olive oil, white vinegar , onions , persil and  grate feta chesse .Very fresh salad to eat , specially in summer time and easy to make.
Sarma is indeed so delicious !! But is a must to try. A Filled cabbage of meat and a light sauce on top.It can be also be filled with rice and paprika. Also served with yogourt and potatoes.
You can find similarities with turkish and greek food.

Second Bulgarian Empire

Veliko Turnovo

Our second place to visit was a rich heritage and fabulous place to discover. Veliko Turnovo, one of the oldest settlements having a history of more than 5 millennia. Our day was based on discoveries; we visited the remaining of the Tsarevets Royal Fortress. It was settled in the 4th century, the fortress was the most important stronghold in Bulgaria, as for its magnificiance , often compared with Rome and Constantinople. It was the second Bulgarian kingdom and served as the primary fortress and the strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, it was the house of the royal and patriarchal palaces. In 1393 the fortress was destroyed by the Ottoman forces, who occupied the place for three months before being conquered on the 17h and that marked the fall of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. They say that the first traces of human presence dating from the 3rd millennium BC were on the Trapezitsa Hill.
After that we went to visit the Preobrazhensk Monastery, set on a hill and offers beautifull views over the forest. It was built in the 14th century and completely destroyed by the turkish while ruling. In 1832 the Turkish sultan ordered to make a new one on the ruins of former monastery. The color on the outside are totally amazing, blue, red, orange, yellow. The inside is full of religious Icons; our eyes were quiet busy looking everywhere. You could feel an ancient religious spirit inside.

Golden Sand Beach, Varna

When we arrived on our first day, we got located at the city of Varna, where you can find resorts of all kind along the black sea coast. Really, it was beautiful. The weather was incredible and just after that flight; it was a relief to be on the beach and to relax. I would like to say that Varna is a beautiful place .The place we were at was called Golden Sand Beach, a nice resort to be in. Varna is placed as the third largest city of Bulgaria.
On our second day, we went to visit the Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral in Varna. Very nice architecture and Russian style of this Church.
